Dubai-based Funktion-One distributor Em-Tec has added to its impressive portfolio with three recent projects: Zenon at The Address Dubai Mall Hotel, Sphere Bar at One&Only One Za’abeel, and The Lana - Dorchester Collection.

Zenon, located in The Address Dubai Mall Hotel, stands out for its unique AI-meets-gastronomy approach to dining. The restaurant required an audio setup that delivers the levels of quality and attention to detail that have been poured into the design and visual spectacle of its huge decorative screens.

Em-Tec's brief for this vibrant space was to ensure that each room had the latest and greatest technology, ensuring that when the venue opened, it would be at the cutting edge of entertainment and hospitality. “The owners emphasised that they wanted this space to be the best of the best in Dubai,” said Armand Bulder, Sales Director at Em-Tec.

In answer to this, Em-Tec designed Funktion-Onefor its four areas, including Compact Range systems for the restaurant, outdoor terrace, and members-only lounge, plus a four-point Evolution X setup for the nightclub.

Zenon stands as just one example of the impressive projects that have emerged from Em-Tec and Funktion-One's relationship. Another is the Sphere at the One & Only Zabeel Hotel, a sophisticated lounge space with a 360-degree bar. The lounge itself is a masterpiece of modern design, featuring sleek lines and luxurious finishes that invite guests to indulge in a selection of expertly crafted cocktails and premium spirits.

“We had to be careful not to disrupt the space’s appearance when installing the speakers. When we first got to the Sphere Bar, we knew it was going to be a tricky install since the whole venue is open plan, so we had to make sure that the audio did not disrupt any areas outside the lounge,” said Henning Boshoff, Em-Tec Account Manager, recounting his involvement in the project.

“Leveraging our experience and knowledge, the solution we came up with was a sophisticated four-point sound system based completely on Funktion-One products,” said Bulder. “We typically use this structure in bar spaces as it creates a surround sound that means each visitor has the same experience. This system featured four Evolution X speakers and four BR218, complemented by F101.2s and F81.2s as side fills.”

The third project to feature in the latest edition of Mondo DR Magazine is Em-Tec's work at The Lana - Dorchester Collection Hotel, where the team upgraded the magnificent pool area.

"With Dorchester being one of the world's leading luxury hotel chains, the owners wanted the best audio experience for their clientele,” said Bulder. “The brief was to design a solution that ensured immersive sound that would be contained, as to not disturb neighbours.”

Em-Tec specified Funktion-One Compact Range speakers, evenly distributing them around the pool, including F5.2s, F81.2s, F101.2s, BR115s and BR118s.
